Devin Nunes, the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee recently made headlines after he came out with an announcement about former President Obama, saying that investigators are dangerously close to blowing the lid off of the “unmasking” scandal connected to the Obama administration.
As Democrat Busters reports, this “unmasking” is about the controversial requests that the Obama administration has made, demanding to expose the identities of American agents or the intelligence they gathered.
While talking to the director of the National Intelligence, Nunes revealed that during the time Obama was in office, his administration had made a huge number of requests for “unmasking,” many of which “were made under suspicious circumstances.”
Nunes wrote in the letter he sent to the National Intelligence Director Dan Coats, that he had “found evidence that current and former government officials had easy access to U.S. person information and that it is possible that they used this information to achieve partisan political purposes… including the selective, anonymous leaking of such information.”
In addition to this, he wrote that the committee “has learned that one official, whose position has no apparent intelligence-related function, made hundreds of unmasking requests during the final year of the Obama administration.”
This clarifies the real intention of the Obama White House, which was to sabotage and undermine Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Nunes says in his letter, “Obama-era officials sought the identities of Trump transition officials within intelligence reports.”
He also noted that they provided “no meaningful explanation” for their request.
As “left-wing activist groups” were throwing attacks on Nunes for sharing this information about the Trump investigation, he made it clear that everything in the end turned out to be “entirely false and politically motivated.”
Nunes added: “The American people are beginning to learn the truth about the improper unmasking of the identities of U.S. citizens and other abuses by the previous administration.”
